Approach

Our specialist primary care team helped Thistlemoor Medical Centre appeal against their latest CMR6 (current market rent proposal) from the NHS. We undertook a free initial assessment and then inspected the surgery to provide a more detailed valuation, before instigating a challenge to the Notional Rent on behalf of the practice.

Through the course of professional and constructive discussions with the District Valuer (appointed by the NHS) we were able to successfully negotiate an increase in reimbursement in the following key areas;

• Increased the unit rate (£ per sqm) applied to approved reimbursable space
• Increased the number of practice car parking spaces eligible for reimbursement
• Increased the car parking rate (£ per space) of spaces eligible for reimbursement
• Corrected floor areas – we identified errors in the calculation of the reimbursable floor area of the premises and through detailed representation managed to correct these based on our survey data

Conclusion

Our professional representation resulted in a 18% increase in notional rent reimbursement for the practice.
