BW Healthcare Surveyors achieve a 10.23% uplift in notional rent reimbursement for a practice in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Approach

Our specialist primary care team helped Blackhall Medical Centre Edinburgh appeal against their current market rent proposal from NHS Scotland. We undertook a free initial assessment followed by a detailed inspection of the surgery before instigating a challenge to the Notional Rent on behalf of the practice.

We then entered discussions with the District Valuer and Health Board, appointed by NHS Scotland and successfully negotiated an increase in the practice’s reimbursement in the following areas.

  • Increased the unit rate (£ per sqm) in comparison to other surgeries local to the surgery.
  • Increased the number of car parking spaces.
  • We also adjusted the FRI for the client.

Conclusion

Our professional representation resulted in the 10.23% increase in notional rent for the practice and the case was resolved in just over 4 months.
